Hi everyone!

This month I don't have any slots available, but with the POG rewards handed out I should have plenty of cards to trade. I'll accept trades of any size, so don't hesitate to reach out.

I've also got a few sigs to trade in case we haven't done that yet!

As always, the banner leads to my tradepost, and the signature leads to my dreamwidth post.

Thinking about the Jungian concept of projection. Although we usually talk about it in negative terms, I think it can have a positive aspect.

We frequently project our unacknowledged positive traits onto public figures with the expectation of some kind of rescue.

Growing up then, is the retraction of that type of projection to wake up our dormant positive traits and use them to help makes our lives and the lives of others better.

LAST WEEK'S DECK: seawitch - Wadanohara, Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea

John and Sherlock are chasing down a criminal for one of the latest cases that Sherlock has taken on, and they would like your help, dear Colors player! Hidden in one of the Colors decks is a clue that will eventually lead the detective duo to our culprit, and if everyone puts their brains together, ask questions and share information, there's no way they won't be able to find that missing clue! Can you help them, Colors players? John will give you some cards for your trouble!

GAMEPLAY AND RULES
☆ There will be 2 parts to this game - asking questions and guessing a deck!
☆ Players are able to ask questions on this post to narrow down the identity of the deck selected for the round.
☆ While the name of the game is twenty questions, you can absolutely ask more than twenty questions total :P
☆ You can ask multiple questions, but please ensure that at least three people have asked questions OR 24 hours have passed in between your questions! Please limit yourself to two questions a day per person and no more than five questions a week. Please wait for the reset comment before posting more questions if you have maxed out your limits!
☆ Questions should be yes/no only, as far as possible! In the event that a question is valid but does not apply to the deck (EX. "Is this character male?" for a character with no gender), the question will still count. Using mod discretion, the question will sometimes be answered with "sort of", "neither", etc.
☆ EXAMPLE QUESTIONS: "Is the deck name a verb?" "Is the deck Special?" "Does it feature a human character?" "Does the deck name have an odd number of letters?" "Does the character in the deck have glasses?"
☆ If you are confident that you have picked out the correct deck, you may post a guess to the GUESSES toplevel, which will always be the first comment on each weekly post!
☆ Players are limited to two guesses per week. You can guess the same as someone else, if you think they are correct. This is to prevent people from blindly and magically guessing a deck before we've even gotten off the ground!
☆ Submit your guesses using the following code:

☆ Each deck will get two weeks (1 biweekly round) for guesses - although if the deck is guessed early, a new round will go up with a new card on Fridays!

♪ I will be responding to questions and passing out rewards once a day. Guesses will be responded to at the end of the round/before the next round goes up to make it fair for everyone!

PRIZES
You will receive:
3 random cards for every valid question posted and answered
3 random cards for an incorrect guess attempt
5 random character cards + 2 random special cards if you managed to guess the correct deck!
☆ A bonus of 2 random crayons if you happen to be the first person to guess the correct deck!

This round will reset on July 11th and end on July 18th.

If you're a Mass Deck collector, you've probably experienced the moment when you've mastered a deck and then you get cards from that same deck while there are still several of the same series still unmastered. And even if you're not massdecking a series you might still find yourself wanting a different character from the same series.

Well, Riku is traveling multiple worlds in search of his best friend, Sora. While he's traveling he's decided to take requests from Colors Players. That is, he's willing to take your cards and change them into cards you need.

How does this work
★ Turn in cards from a deck to receive cards from another of the same series (for ex. chivalry -> trace, both Fate/Stay Night). All decks must be under the same name (so Fate/Stay Night is different from Fate/Grand Order).
★ Scrapbooks do not count for this game.
★ You can use cards to swap choice cards of the same deck, but not randoms, as Swap Station is meant for that.
★ You can submit up to five trades per week.
★ Submitting five trades will get you two random crayons on top of the swaps.

Rates
👑 1 character card for 1 random character card from a deck of your choice from the same series
👑 2 character cards for 1 character choice card from the same series
👑 1 special card for 1 random special card from a deck of your choice from the same series
👑 2 special cards for 1 special choice card from the same series

★ For the two cards, the cards submitted do not need to be from the same deck, but they do need to be from the same series, naturally.
★ If you're taking choice cards, you can log them right away. In case of randoms and crayons you'll have to wait on me to do my rounds.

Please use this form:

Remember to include card images.

This round ends July 10th at 11:59 pm EST!

While there are still a few weeks before we actually begin construction work, I’m having to relocate my existing bookcases – some will be repurposed and some will be given away (probably to ReStore).

The first step is to pack up all the books. It’s like moving, and I hate moving.

Gathering up some thoughts about places we ate recently:

Hugo's is the hot new seafood place in Bishop Arts. It has 28 seats and for the most part doesn't take reservations, so it's exactly the sort of place I wouldn't have tried without Tasting Collective. We had five courses: three seafood, one braised short rib, and a mango key lime pie. The scallop starter was nice; the lobster bisque was fantastic, and the red fish fillet was lovely. The braised short rib was also really nice but was the kind of thing my foodie friends said they could make easily at home. I was a bit worried about the key lime pie because mangos and I don't always get along, but the mango was mostly on top and the pie itself was quite nice, with a good citrus tang. If we could get reservations or had a chance to drop in when we were already down there, I'd love to try Hugo's regular menu.

Liberty Burger is a local chain that serves really good burgers. My father-in-law introduced it to us a while back and it's become one of our favorite places, along with Rodeo Goat, when the burger cravings hit. In addition to a really nice beef mix in their regular patty, they also serve bison, lamb, turkey, tuna, and house-made veggie patties. This time I had their western bacon cheeseburger, with lovely bacon and a nice BBQ sauce. This month's specialty burger, which I noticed when I was reminding myself what was on the menu, has brisket on top of the patty. Clearly I'll have to check that out.

We went to Gemma for the first time last year with a visiting friend, who's a duck person, because they have duck frites on their regular menu. She ended up having another duck dish and I went with the duck frites. This time the duck was still delicious, crispy, capery, and fat, as were the duck fat tater tots, which are more like croquettes in my opinion. Spouse had the moules frites, which I didn't like quite as well: they were only very good. Bonus: Gemma makes mocktails of everything on their cocktail menu. The atmosphere on Tuesday night was perfect: quiet and not too crowded. We definitely need to put Gemma in our regular nice-restaurant rotation so we can try something besides the duck.

Extracted from my requirements / vision proposal

At the start of 2025 I vowed to finally restart the home library remodel that got put on hold when the pandemic began in 2020. The interior designer I had selected had moved from Portland to California, and I basically had to start over.

Instead of describing everything in detail, I’m simply listing the chronology of events. Excluded is all the email correspondence I’ve had with my designer, Hannah Lichtenthaler at Allison Smith Design. Also, for now, I’m skipping over all the design decisions. In short, here’s how I got to where we are today:

Last week's story: "In 1969 ADJECTIVE astronauts landed on the moon and discovered it was made of NOUN."

Your gracious host, Trucy, runs a weekly magic show. To get the audience pumped up before the show, Trucy begins with a simple trick - a short mad libs story, a bit of magic, a couple of cards, and voila: free stuff! You might also be entertained, but no guarantees.

Trucy needs help deciding what her story will be about; however, it's funnier if the audience doesn't know until afterward, so you'll just have to submit your cards and see what happens at the end of the round. Help her fill out the major details by submitting deck names to fill in the blanks of her story idea. To thank you for your help, if you put the right cards into Trucy's magic panties, they'll magically turn into new cards!

THIS WEEK'S REQUIREMENTS!

Card 1
• Basic: Deck name is a VERB
• Bonus: cool color (green/blue/purple)
Card 2
• Basic: Deck name is an ADJECTIVE
• Bonus: short hair

You'll lose the cards you turn in, but for each basic requirement you fulfill you will receive 4 random cards. Fulfilling the bonus as well will net you 1 random card each, for a possible total reward of 10 random cards!

Good luck! This round will close on Thursday, July 10th!

Continuing the previous post about the three acts of life:

In the past, families and cultural institutions provided the answers for each stage with particular life scripts that people were required to follow. Not much variation or choice.

Then improvements in education, technology, and the rise of the middle class began to give people new choices and opportunities for independence and self determination. The changes and new opportunities resulted in the development and diversification of cultures, and the scientific, medical, and technology advancements that improved living conditions and extended human lifespan.

These changes and progression were beneficial for both society and the individual. Discovering on your own who you are, what you can do, and how you can give back is an adventure that requires courage, patience, responsibility, and resilience, but can also result in happiness, connection, and fulfillment.

The modern era has been an amazing ride with admirable achievements in technology, medicine, art, literature, music, and human rights.

But now, it seems we’re entering a stage that’s rejecting modernity and attempting to take away people’s choices in a movement to return to narrowly defined traditions and scripted answers. It seems to me that those who support this are not willing or able to go on the adventure of individuation and want to return to those scripted answers.

If it’s an individual choice to live a traditional life, ok then. The Amish have been doing that for a long time.

But forcing scripts and traditions on others is not ok and is impossible to achieve without extreme disruption… which of course becomes a convenient way for the fearful and the ignorant not to examine themselves and instead blame everyone else.

The main issue is control. To control the stages of life with an outside script is to control the individual and to control the individual is to stop the process of individuation and the progress in society.

Something that would stop the regression is for enough people to wake up to their individuality and choose it. But that's the catch: if they don't know they have the choice, they won't use their free will to exercise it.

When I was younger, I was more optimistic about people waking up, Now, I'm no longer so sure. Maybe it's up to individuals to communicate with individuals and keeping alive a network of small lights in the face of darkness.

What is the point of life? Is there a point?

I think there is and that point is: to grow as a person, develop the personality, and evolve the soul.

After studying the theories of C. G. Jung and Erik Erikson, I’ve been working on schema of psychological development in three acts. There are challenges that come with each act and how we respond to those challenges shape the kind of person we become, especially as an elder.

Act 1: Who am I? (0-21)

During the first act we receive an education and discover our selves in terms of skills, abilities, and expression.

If we’re fortunate and have good caretakers, we will survive childhood illnesses and receive an education that is adequate for the next stage. If we’re lucky, our caretakers will pay additional attention to quality of our education, and provide us with connections for social and cultural opportunities and travel.

Act 2: What will I do with who I am? (21-49)

During the second act of life we contribute our skills and abilities to society, whether in a career, in the context of raising a family, volunteering, creativity, or any combination thereof.

Act 3: What is my legacy? (50-?)

During the third act, we reflect on what we’ve accomplished, mourn for losses that occurred along the way, express gratitude for the good times, then focus on being an elder and give back to society what we’ve learned.

Since I’m in the third act, that’s the one that interests me the most. I’m in my crone era and I love it.

I did not finish outlining the figures on the pocketbook because I ran out of black thread. Fortunately I think the needlepoint store in Ft. Worth sells Appleton’s wools. I can’t go this Friday because of the holiday, but maybe I can get over there next Friday. In the meantime, I’ve started filling in motifs and doing the date and initial block. I was kind of hoping to finish the embroidery by the end of the week, but I’m really not sure whether I’m on track for that or not.
